The Thirteen Children
This photo is from the 1950 family reunion.
Back row, left to right:
Audra, Thelma, Wyatt, Brother, Elsie, Iantha, Maude
Front row left to right:
JD, Leonard, Archie, Aut, Geraldine, Ada, Spear
This reunion was Ada's 80th birthday celebration .
I have this picture hanging in my living room with my own family portraits because I'm thankful for the way they were raised and how my Grandma's siblings treated her when she was in need. Her husband deserted her with five small children during the depression in the tiny West Texas town, McClean. She had no marketable skills to support her family, but some of her siblings (don't know who) loaned her money to buy a large house in Ada, Oklahoma. She and her daughters ran it as a boarding house for oil field workers. She was able to pay them back. In 1941, during World War II, she moved to San Francisco to work at a shipyard in Oakland. And that's why we were born in California.
Connerville, OK
Here is the complete family as of about 1912, with some Grey in-laws. Maude was a Grey. We're now 110 on Ferris Cousins Facebook page, but really in the hundreds. This is the Ferris family home. It burned down and was replaced with the log home for Ada.
The photo is quite bad, so if you have a good copy, please post it.
