Morris lived in San Antonio, Texas when he joined the army to fight in the Mexican American War. His horse was valued at $15. There are a few more documents for his enlistment. Morris is the father of George Washington Ferris, Tom Ferris' father. Morris' father is still unknown, except Family Search says he was born in Scotland. His wife, Nancy Beekman, collected his pension after he died. Nancy Beekman is our link to Wilhelmus (a founder of New Amsterdam) and Gerardus Beekman (translator of the King James Bible).
