Amanda was the mother of Tom Ferris. She was married to George Washington Ferris. George was murdered on Christmas Eve 1886. Ada and Tom's son, JD, got into a fight at Murray State College many years later with the grandson of the murderer. Neither of them knew the story at the time.
Amanda married Mr. Grey and had Archie Grey who went with Ada and Tom to Oklahoma in the 1890s. Ada's younger brother, Scott Spear, also moved to Oklahoma with Ada and Tom Ferris.
